This procurement exercise is to tender for the provision of catering services for students, staff, visitors and external clients at the principal University campus in Horsforth, North Leeds.
The University has an ambitious strategic plan which aims to increase student numbers from the current circa 3 000 level to circa 4 000 students in 5 years and 5 000 students in 10 years. This is supported by an Estate strategy which aims to support the institution’s revised Strategic Plan that sets out a student focused agenda, and is driven by the need to provide a high quality student experience and support institutional sustainability. There are currently 621 residential units on campus. These are occupied in academic term time by Undergraduate students (39 weeks) and are extensively used for conference facilities in the summer months.
Sector leading catering services and facilities are crucial to maintaining the student experience and satisfaction within our competitive sector. The services to be provided will include counter sales, internal hospitality, catering for key University events and an established, year-round calendar of external events. There is a requirement to create attractive, high volume additional service outlets within the campus, in accordance with the Estate Master plan and projected increase in student population, hence we are looking for a medium term contract to facilitate a partnership with a service provider and to allow the successful provider to obtain a return on investment.
Due to a level of supplier investment required in this contract it is proposed the contract period is initially for a period of 3 years with an option to extend for a further 2 years thereafter, assuming satisfactory performance.
