Description of the contract
The requirement is for the Provision of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Training on behalf of the Defence School of Healthcare Education. To support the Government initiative in improving access to psychological therapies by providing low intensity therapist, the Mental Health Faculty and the Mental Health Executive Committee have directed that all Military Health (MH) practitioners must undertake Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). The National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines is that the CBT Foundation course is the minimum requirement for MH practitioners. The contractor is invited to deliver Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Training for up to 30 Military Mental Health Practitioners per annum, to enable them to deliver the best treatment to service personnel either in peacetime or during military operations. As a minimum the course is to deliver tried and tested bespoke foundation skills to include the following competencies: CBT assessment and formulation, Basic CBT therapeutic techniques, CBT for specific focal problems (depression, panic, obsessive-compulsive disorder, Post Trauma Stress Disorder etc). The CBT training is primarily to be delivered at RAF Brize Norton, Oxfordshire, but there is also the possibility of it being delivered at other MOD sites. The contractor is to provide a British Association of Behavioral Cognitive Therapy (BABCP) Accredited Trainer to deliver the foundation skills in CBT. The contractor is to support the MOD in ensuring a 95% pass rate of students, successfully completing the foundation skills in CBT and is to provide CBT courseware and material and participate in formal course evaluations at the end of each course. The contract will be for two years beginning on 01 April 2014 with potential to extend for a further twelve months.
