Provision of Five Children’s Centre Day Nursery Services

Description of the contract

Due to the approaching expiry of an existing contract the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham is advertising to seek Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified and experienced organisations to take on the operation of Five Children’s Centre Day Nursery Services in the Borough. The selected organisation will be expected to work with Barking and Dagenham Council to ensure the provision of good quality and affordable childcare. The Council are seeking an experienced organisation to take on the operation of all five of the following nurseries: (Please note – The five (5) nurseries are being re-tendered as one Lot, this means that the preferred provider who is awarded the contract/s and co-terminous leases shall take on the operation of all five (5) of the nurseries): Eastbury Children’s Centre Day Nursery (Address: Blake Avenue, Barking, Essex, IG11 9SQ) – registered by the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) to provide care for fifty three (53) children within an age range of three (3) months to five (5) years. Ford Road Children’s Centre Day Nursery (Address: Ford Road, Dagenham, Essex, RM10 9JS) – registered by the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) to provide care for fifty (50) children within an age range of three (3) months to five (5) years. Furze Children’s Centre Day Nursery (Address: 1a Ferrance Road, Chadwell Heath, Essex, RM6 6ES) – registered by the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) to provide care for fifty two (52) children within an age range of three (3) months to five (5) years. Leys Children’s Centre Day Nursery (Address: 215 Wellington Drive, Dagenham, Essex, RM10 9XW) – registered by the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) to provide care for fifty (50) children within an age range of three (3) months to five (5) years. Wellgate Children’s Centre Day Nursery (Address: Lawn Farm Grove, Romford, Essex, RM6 5LL) – registered by the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) to provide care for fifty two (52) children within an age range of three (3) months to five (5) years. Opening hours for all the nurseries will be Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm for fifty one (51) weeks a year. The contract/s and co-terminous lease/s for all nurseries are expected to be for a period of five (5) years commencing on 1st January 2013 and may be extended for a further period of two (2) years subject to performance and at the sole discretion of the Council.

How to apply

Organisations who wish to express an interest must currently be running an Ofsted registered nursery rated “Good” or “Outstanding” or where the organisation is running more than one nursery must have an overall average of nurseries rated “Good” or “Outstanding”. Organisations must also currently be running a nursery within a Children’s Centre and must be able to demonstrate three (3) years relevant experience, have proven financial stability and have a commitment to quality, inclusion and continuous improvement. Experience of Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) TUPE would also be an advantage. Interested parties will be sent an Expression of Interest pack which should be returned no later then 12 noon, Monday 30th April 2012. The Expression of Interest pack is only available electronically but responses are required in hard copy and electronic format (excluding email) together with all relevant accompanying documentation.
