Description of the contract

To deliver a continual supply of newly qualified educational psychologists to the workforce in England until 2017/18, with an option to extend to 2018/19, subject to The Secretary of State priorities in the next spending review period. This means we are looking for one or more training providers to provide initial training for educational psychologists, for two, 3 year cohorts of 120 trainees each, starting in 2013 and 2014 (therefore Sept. 2013 – August 2018), with an option to extend for an additional 120 trainees to start in 2015 (therefore Sept. 2015 – August 2019). Estimated value: There is 7 million GBP of funding available for the 2013 and 2014 cohorts. This means there is 3.5 million each for the 2013 and 2014 cohorts covering the full three years of training (excluding bursaries). If the contract is extended for an additional cohort starting in 2015, it is anticipated a further 3.5 million GBP would be made available (decisions regarding 2015 cohort are subject to The Secretary of State’s priorities in the next spending review period). Length of contract: The contract will cover training for two 3 year cohorts starting in 2013 and 2014 (therefore September 2013 – August 2018). There will be an option to extend the contracts to provide training for a cohort starting in 2015 (therefore September 2015 – August 2019) subject to The Secretary of State’s priorities in the next spending review period.
