Description of the contract

Provision of Out of Hours Primary Care Services for Registered Patients at (1) RAF Marham Regional Medical Centre (RMC), Kings Lynn, Norfolk, PE33 9NP. (a) The Contractor will provide the Primary Health Care Out of Hours services which must be no lower than those of Local Primary Care Trust approved Out of Hours providers. (b) The Provider is required to provide telephone triage services & consultations to be carried out at the providers medically equipped premises or at home of the patients as deemed clinically appropriate. (c) The successful Contractor must be able to satisfy emergency, face-to-face consultations within 1 hour of any patient contact, be it at the patient’s home or from the contractor’s own fully, medically equipped premises. (d) The Contractor shall be required to provide from a pool of suitably qualified Medical Practitioners who hold the equivalent (or higher) qualifications than would be expected of a General Practitioner and ideally will have working knowledge of Military Medical Procedures & terminology. (e) Contractor’s personnel must be registered with the General Medical Council which includes proficiency in the reading, writing, speaking and understanding of the English Language as certified by the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and the GMC. (f) Proposed Period of Contract is 1st September 2012 to 31st March 2013 with MOD retaining the option to extend a further 3 years (potentially to 31/03/2016) subject to Annual review with regards continued requirement and satisfactory performance. (g) Contractors who consider they can provide the requirement and who wish to be considered for an Invitation To Tender, must express their interest by letter, facsimile or email to the Contracting Authority stated by No later than 1000 on Wednesday 29th May 2012. Quality Requirements for above services are as laid down within the “National Quality Requirements in the Delivery of Out of Hours Services” – July 2006.
