Peel Ports Limited as part of its current and planned investment within its UK locations is aiming to create an In River Container Terminal at the Port of Liverpool, the project is entitled Liverpool 2.
Part of this project involves the procurement of an IT based system that will control all aspects of Shipping Container movements within the new terminal. This will include the ability to plan the handling of containers on and off vessels, the housekeeping of containers whilst on site and the management of traffic movements within the container terminal. This is typically referred to as a Terminal Operating System (TOS).
The new terminal will be linked with the existing Royal Seaforth Container Terminal (RSCT), the new system must have the ability to integrate with the existing system.
As Peel Ports operates a number of UK ports and has plans for further development of these sites, any system must therefore be up-scalable to meet future site container requirements and demands eg the Manchester Ship canal for container handling.
