Description of the goods or services requiredInshore Research Vessel Tender Details We require to purchase a fully-fitted and finished inshore research vessel for marine survey and biology research work to be moored on a private mooring, subject to periodic drying. The vessel should have capacity for up to 10 passengers plus two crew and meet MCA Category 3 specification. Selection criteria will include: Fit for purpose: The vessel will be used for research and teaching purposes to deploy sampling and trawling equipment as well as deploy and recover divers Sampling equipment will include a 2m beam trawl, crab pots, sediment sampling gear, remotely operated vehicles, small CTDs. The hull design should be such that the platform is stable and have sufficient power to trawl a light beam trawl. Engine specifications: The vessel should be driven by outboard or inboard engines with sufficient power to trawl a 2m beam trawl under full load (up to 12 persons). We will consider cruising speed, ease of maintenance and fuel economy. Sampling gear and diver deployment: We require a winching system for deployment and recovery of sampling gear and also for anchor recovery as well as a frame for attaching trawl gear at the aft of the vessel. We will also use the vessel for scientific diving and therefore require the ability to deploy and retrieve divers. Security and safety: The vessel must be fully lockable with toughened windows, seating and storage. The vessel must also be fully equipped with electronics (safety, navigation and communications) and safety equipment (examples given below). Ancillaries: The quotation should include supply (and where necessary, fitting) all ancillary equipment (anchor, warp/chain, additional safety equipment, bollards/steel work/fairleads and mooring posts/railing etc.) and fenders etc. as would be required of a small research/survey vessel.
