Aim
The Employment & Skills team within Merseytravel assist unemployed residents of Merseyside in accessing transport based employment. This scheme is twofold; firstly to improve the level of customer service for all customer facing transport employers/employees and to secondly to enhance/maintain provision on the transport network. This scheme is therefore aimed at reducing worklessness whilst improving the economic output of the region and to enhance a sector which with future forecasts suggests a widening skills shortage.
Below is what is needed to deliver the scheme successfully,

    • Train a minimum of twenty individuals with the PTS and TIC training qualifications
    • Deliver or liaise with the Employment & Skills team regarding additional qualifications
    • Prior to the start of/during the academy liaise with rail engineering operators regarding securing employment opportunities for successful learners
    • Invoice the Employment & Skills team overall cost at the end of each academy
    • Assist in the recruitment process
    • Delivery agent to monitor learner attendance and report to the Employment & Skills team on a regular basis
    • Inform the Employment & Skills team of any changes in legislation should this affect the delivery of the project
    • Liaise with clients after their training to ensure sustainability within the project
