Description of the contract

Background Our Central Government Client is looking for a Marketing Strategy Manager to work on a month contract basis. This role is based in Reading or Taunton and is an immediate requirement. The main purpose of this role is to : 1. To collate all existing initiatives which are not already in the pipeline 2. To deliver a sustained flow of Innovation through a mix of personally driven activities and input from the wider business 3. To manage the Innovation process (regular meetings, reporting etc) using the newly created documents as appropriate Main Duties/ Responsibilities The role requires creative (entrepreneurial) skills and attention to detail, as well as a very flexible personality to work effectively with very different types of people. At one end of the spectrum there will be product technical experts and at the other end, blue sky thinkers. All need to be motivated and taken along in order to maximise the creativity and output, and inevitably working with such a diverse set of personalities and skills will require appropriate credibility and personal qualities. As Admiralty is owned by the MOD but operates as a profit making commercial business there are also differing internal and stakeholder cultures to be managed. The role can be based in either Taunton or Reading but in either case the post holder will need to spend at least three days a week in Taunton for the first three months and one to two days a week there subsequently. If they do not live reasonably near Taunton and cannot relocate a certain amount of working from home will be possible (one day a week certainly, sometimes two) Outputs/ Deliverables to be achieved Understanding and scoping market needs (in conjunction with other members of the team and the wider organisation) Developing new propositions, working with internal stakeholders and external suppliers Ensuring that the conceptual work is turned into standard proposals (pre-business case) to gain approval at the Board Manage the Innovation process Skills/ Experience Required • Experience: Significant hands on leadership of systematic innovation development in a B2B environment, with clear evidence of products, services and propositions being taken to market or implemented. • Good understanding of technology, especially the transition to digital business environments; • Comprehensive knowledge of Enterprise Solutions, and complex proposition development incorporating added value and full service surround • Skills: Marketing, including Digital Media; Workshop facilitation; Expertise in Ideation techniques and tools; Market research Desirable: • Knowledge of the commercial shipping industry
