Description of the contract

Background Our client is currently recruiting for a Programme Planner to work as part of their Public Services Network Programme (PSN) which over the last year has expanded considerably and taken on a number of new responsibilities. In addition, a number of new projects have been incorporated into the PSN Programme portfolio. As a result of these changes the breadth of services which the Porgramme Management Office provides will need to increase in parallel, along with the adoption of a more firmly established best practice model for the management of the portfolio and supporting processes (e.g. risk management, planning etc). An experienced and qualified Programme planner is required to produce a comprehensive programme plan and track progress against it. Main Duties/ Responsibilities 1. Update and maintain schedule data to ensure project consistency and optimisation. 2. Create formal communication plan to both team members and management. 3. Owns, create, manage and maintain the Master Plan for all projects, small pieces of work and WPG submissions. 4. Identifying and managing dependencies across projects and programmes. 5. Ensures that the information in the portfolio projects and programmes of work is up to date and available to Senior Leadership team when required. 6. Assist in the management of the PSN Programme project portfolio, to ensure that it is appropriately planned, resourced and reported against. 7. Ensure contractors provide resource loaded schedules at determined intervals to make sure delivery is being completed on time and within budget. 8. Suppotr the use/integration of project and contract management systems into the daily operation of the business. 9. Recognise and understand competing business requirements and make recommendations for the overall good of the projects team. 10. Perform project progress monitoring duties including identifying critical activities and reviewing forecasts with progress achieved to date. 11. Meet established project deadlines. 12. Be a resource to facilitate the resolution of project issues by team members. 13. Regularly keep management informed of problems, issues, and status of on-going projects. 14. Create and maintain project plan. Outputs/ Deliverables to be achieved 1. Production of overall Programme plan. 2. Provide support to project managers for construction and maintenance of project plans. 3. Review, advise and input to Risk and Issues registrs – at both project and programme level. Skills/ Experience Required 1. Experience working as a PMO in a large and complex environment. 2. Experience managing complex project/programme plans. 3. Ideally recent public sector experience in a PMO context Formal Qualifications Required Essential 1. PRINCE 2 Practitioner. 2. Managing Successful Programmes Practitioner. 3. MS Project Advanced. Desirable 1. P3O Practitioner. 2. Management of Risk Practitioner.
