Description of the contract
Our Central Government client has a 6 month requirement for a Project Manager – Operations. Based in Taunton, with a view to extend. Main Duties/ Responsibilities 1. Day to day management of the project’s resources to ensure tasks are implemented on time, on budget and to the required scope and quality. 2. Management of the production of the project’s products 3. Management of the governance and control processes including risk and issue management, progress reporting, change control, etc. 4. Timely and proactive decision making to ensure the project meets its objectives. Accountable for initiating escalation where necessary 5. Manage dependencies internally within the project, and liaise with dependent projects. 6. Manage resource plans and control / forecast financial spend against the budget. 7. Manage day to day communications with the project team and suppliers including closely working with the Communications Manager to define formal communications to be released. 8. Conduct end-project evaluation and ensure lessons learned are integrated into the project. Outputs/ Deliverables to be achieved – Skills/ Experience Required Essential Experience of managing and implementing business critical projects. Capable of engaging senior stakeholders. Credibility and character to manage a diverse team in a matrix environment. Knowledge and experience of implementing project management processes, methods and tasks. Capable of developing and maintaining strong working relationships with project team members, business side resource and third party suppliers. Knowledge of IT development methods and techniques Desirable 1. Experience of managing suppliers contracts 2. Experience of the procurement process 3. Experience of managing GIS projects Formal Qualifications Required Essential Prince 2 (or equivalent) qualified
