Founded in 1858, the Hallé is Manchester’s symphony orchestra and ranks among the UK’s top symphonic ensembles, with a distinguished history of acclaimed performances in this country and around the world. The orchestra has been responsible for award-winning recordings, radio broadcasts and educational outreach programmes, and remains committed to building audiences and developing orchestral repertoire.
The Hallé restored the previously vacant Grade II Listed St Peter’s Church building (Ancoats) in 2013 and have been using the building as their main rehearsal space since. This aim of this project is to now refurbish and extend St Peter’s in order to create performance space, additional rehearsal space, a café bar, offices and storage space in order to create a world-class centre for rehearsal and recordings, a place where all the ensembles, youth orchestras and choirs can make their home.

The Halle seek a principal contractor to undertake refurbishment and extension works to the St Peter’s building. It is the intention of the Contracting Authority that the successful principal contractor will enter into a single contract with The Hallé to see the project from stage 5 through to stage 7.
