The current environment consists of 37 ESXi 5.1 Hosts allocated into 5 Data Centers containing 14 separate clusters. The largest of which is the focus of the consolidation work that is currently underway. This location comprises of 6 Clusters that we are aiming to reduce down to 2. It is currently not possible with the existing hardware as the CPU architecture of the servers prohibits any EVC mode compatible with all hosts.
The entire infrastructure is managed by a single vCentre Server which will be used to migrate the Virtual Machines between Clusters.
The new hardware will provide the current solution with added stability and failover capability. This will be Cisco based technology given that CoSocius have a Cisco network and other Cisco servers within the estate. Procuring additional Cisco servers provides common functionality and data center efficiencies. It is proven in the market that memory density is higher which will resolve our current performance issues.
