Description of the contract

Tender for the replacement of the defective galvanised steel domestic hot and cold water pipework distribution systems, including gas fired water heaters at Marks Gate Junior School, Barking The Assets & Commercial Services Division is located within the Finance & Resources Department of the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. The Assets & Commercial Services Division is now inviting expressions of interest for a tender to be submitted for L8 plumbing remedial works at Marks Gate Junior School. These works have an estimated value of approximately £115,000.00 The scope of works includes for the complete replacement of the defective galvanised steel pipework distribution systems serving the domestic hot & cold water services including two gas-fired water heaters and the incoming Site water main. It is the intention to carry out the works over the 2012 school summer holiday period and the works programme will be agreed to accommodate this. Full commissioning, sterilisation and issue of O&M manuals will be required prior to practical completion being granted. All site operatives should be CRB accredited. Tenders are anticipated to be issued and returned in June 2012. It is anticipated that the works shall commence on site in July 2012, for completion in late August 2012. The Contractor shall only use fully trained and qualified “approved” Plumbers in the supply and installation of water supply systems irrespective of whether the plumbing systems are new or modifications to existing. Note: An “approved” Plumber/Contractor means (a) a person who has been approved by the “water undertaker” for the area where a water fitting is installed or used, or (b) has been certified as an “approved” Plumber/Contractor by WIAPS or similar body/organisation as defined in the Water Regulations Guide.

Companies wishing to be considered for this project must be Construction line Pre-qualified suppliers and must submit a copy of their Construction line registration certificate along with their expression of interest. Applicants must also provide details of their previous relevant experience (maximum 2no. A4 Sheets) in relation to carrying out similar work of this type and value. It should be noted that the Council are looking for a maximum number of six companies to tender for this works contract and that the final tender list will be selected based on the quality of your submission of previous relevant experience.
