Description of the contract

DigitalCity Business has historically been part financed by the European Union and the European Regional Development Fund, and is currently applying for funding from this source for the 2012-15 period. We expect to receive confirmation of this funding later this summer. In the meantime, and to expedite project ramp up, DCB is conducting a procurement exercise for a number of services, including this invite to quote. Applicants should be aware that the contract on offer is subject to this funding being confirmed, and all application work is done at the applicant’s own risk. DigitalCity Business [DCB] is the business driver for the developing DigitalCity supercluster based in the Tees Valley. One of DCB’s tasks is driving uptake of clusterfocussed activities such as support activity, events, networking and collaboration initiatives in the Tees Valley. This is of particular importance given the Local Enterprise Partnership’s prioritisation of the digital sector, and the targets identified in its Digital Sector Action Plan. DCB requires a freelance marketing executive to work alongside the core DCB team to help deliver in this area. Key activities will be – • The development and delivery of a marketing communications plan – Development of the plan will be in collaboration with DCB management – Implementation will be the sole responsibility of the successful candidate • Managing the DigitalCity Business website – Updating and managing content (events, news stories, competitions) • Managing the DigitalCity Business database and mass-mailing tool – Updating and cleansing the database – Creating and implementing a weekly newsletter • Managing the DigitalCity Business social media platforms employed • Undertaking research into the Digital and Creative industries – At local and national levels The applicant needs these key abilities – • Excellent analytical skills, with fast, accurate and precise work in all forms [written, verbal] • Knowledge or practical experience of cluster development activity 2 • Business and marketing focus • Ability to work independently, including setting and meeting deadlines • Ambition • Interpersonal skills, enabling them to fit in with a hard-working, results-focused DCB team The total value of the contract [or if there are contracts, the total aggregated value] will not exceed £20,000, with the analyst being engaged on an ‘as needed by DCB’ basis.
