Cheshire East Council is seeking to appoint a consultant to research and develop options and recommendations for the formation of a UK-wide insurance risk scheme for geo-thermal resource and associated drilling activities. The options must be capable of supporting an early project in Cheshire East, and be flexible enough to be expanded as test drills into geothermal resources progress within the UK.
The report should outline options for achieving the risk insurance scheme including potential financial types of backers, the form of insurance which could be offered for different parts of the risk, the timescales and phasing for developing the insurance scheme and the benefits and risks of each option. Appropriate risk mitigations should be laid out for the successful implementation of each preferred option.
