Forestry Commission in North England intends to award a four year contract for the haulage of round timber (chipwood) from harvesting sites in the main block of Kielder Forest and Kershope to the Egger (UK) site at Hexham, Northumberland.
North England Forest District holds a supply contract requiring the annual delivery of 30 000 wet tonnes (+/- 10 %) of chipwood to the Egger (UK) processing plant in Hexham, Northumberland. Round chipwood will be presented at forest roadside on FC harvesting sites. Actual quantities to be delivered in any year of this contract are subject to variation due to factors such as customer demand, weather disruption, and events outside the control of either party. It is the intention however of the FC that the full contract quantity of 30 000 tonnes per annum will be delivered and the successful bidder must demonstrate their capability to meet this target.
