Description of the goods or services required

Dumfries and Galloway LEADER Local Action Group (D&G LAG) requires a contractor to undertake the production of a Good Practice Guide to accompany the Rural Awards ceremony to be held in November 2013.

The Rural Dumfries & Galloway LEADER Programme provides grants for projects that will benefit the rural areas and communities of Annandale & Eskdale, Nithsdale, Stewartry and Wigtownshire. The programme has the overall aim of ‘Revitalising Communities’ and support is aimed at small scale community driven projects that are pilot and innovative in nature. With this vision, LEADER are capitalising on the region’s resources – local produce, landscapes, biodiversity, agriculture, history, traditions, people and architecture.

Dumfries & Galloway LEADER Programme runs from 2008 – 2013 and is working with communities throughout Dumfries & Galloway who are currently delivering 60 live projects which fit with the Scottish Government’s national key strategic policy objectives; Wealthier & Fairer Scotland, Smarter Scotland, Healthier Scotland, Safer & Stronger Scotland and Greener Scotland.

Rural Dumfries & Galloway LEADER has previously delivered Rural Awards ceremonies with accompanying Good Practice Guide in 2005, 2007 and 2010. This provides an opportunity to recognise the achievements of our LEADER funded community projects and provides a document which showcases all of the projects short-listed for Rural Awards in 2013. The contractor will be asked to produce a GPG which draws on previous guide designs and formats.
