Description of the contract

The UK Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has a requirement for the provision and installation of safer cell furniture & Sanitary fittings (as detailed in the Safer Cell guide in attachments). The requirement is for use at all Prison Service Establishment across the UK and use by HM Courts, Tribunals, Probation Service, UK Borders Agency, Youth Justice Board and Other Central Government Departments (OGDs), NDPBs or local authorities who have secure accommodation requirements. The aim is for a Standard Model Building Contract with client amendments to be utilised as the form of contracting. Safer cell furniture is critical to the safe, secure and comfortable use of the cells and the requirement for safer cell furniture remains a key provision in order for the MoJ to manage the in-cell risks that furniture can pose to the staff and prisoner population. Fuller descriptions and specification will feature as part of the ITT documentation. At this stage the MoJ wishes to explore Industry’s capability and capacity aswell as explaining MoJ’s own ideas in respect of Specification and tender design and obtaining Industrys feedback. Accordingly an Industry day on Friday 6th July 2012 has been arranged in the Midlands. Due to space restrictions only 1 rep per company can be accommodated.
