A service concession contract for the provision of school meals to secondary school children, staff and other users of the school site, including those hiring facilities during and outside school hours. Burntwood School is a foundation school for girls aged between 11 and 18. The sixth form is mixed. Its capacity is currently 1740. Currently approximately 800 meals are served per day, of which about 20 % are to persons qualifying for free school meals. Meals will be prepared and served onsite by the economic operator in the school’s kitchen. The economic operator will also be responsible for ancillary tasks such as clearing the dining area. Given the school’s diverse population, all meat served must be halal and a vegetarian option must be available. The school is currently engaged in a significant rebuilding project which will result in the relocation of the kitchen, servery and eating areas to new accommodation, and an increase in the school’s capacity to 1964 during the term of this agreement. The economic operator may also be required to carry out additional services, including the management of a small retail unit for school uniforms and participation in food technology provision.
