Repair and maintenance services of ships. Built in 2006, Trinity House’s Rapid Intervention Vessel (RIV) Alert was been designed with buoy handling, wreck marking, towing and hydrographic surveying capability. At 39 m long with a service speed of 17 knots, THV Alert provides a high degree of facility for the maintenance of marine aids-to-navigation, enhanced by many additional features including a range of high specification survey equipment and a 3.5 t lift crane. A specification document for this vessel is available at: http://www.trinityhouse.co.uk/pdfs/alert_drf5.pdf

As part of the routine maintenance of the vessel, the Alert is dry-docked every 3-4 years to facilitate essential maintenance. The dry-docking of the vessel and the undertaking of the required repair and maintenance forms the basis of the Invitation to Tender process to which this pre-qualification process relates.
The scope of this tender process is the appointment of a contractor to undertake the dry-docking and repair of the THV Alert. This Invitation to Tender process is to be conducted in accordance with the requirements of the Public Contracts Regulations 2006 and current E.U. procurement legislation. A Restricted Procedure Notice, ref. 2013/S XXX-XXXXXX/EN is to be published on Friday 3.5.2013, in the Official Journal of European Union (OJEU), in respect to this requirement.
All participants to this process will be required to complete this Pre-Qualification Questionnaire and forward it to the contact provided on Page 4. Following the evaluation of the PQQ responses a final field of tender will be selected to participate in the Invitation to Tender stage. This field of tender is anticipated to include no more than six participants and selection will be based on the scores assigned during this process.
Participating tenderers should be aware that this pre-qualification process and the subsequent Invitation to Tender will be subject to the UK Government’s policy on transparency.
