Description of the contract

Supporting Carers to maintain a life of their own through the provision of short breaks, the London Borough of Hounslow is looking to commission services which will deliver opportunities for people to have breaks from their caring duties. These services will help sustain the wider implementation of Putting People First and personalisation in Hounslow and the Council’s Statement under The Breaks for Carers of Disabled Children Regulations 2011. Breaks from their caring roles allow individuals to maintain their physical and emotional health, continue or pursue their employment or educational aspirations and reduce social isolation. The term Carer is used to describe unpaid members of the public, caring for an individual/s who because of illness or disability requires support and care. This tender is split into two different lots: Lot 1 Carers of Children and Young People with Disabilities 0 – 17 years. The services will provide both specialist activities and access to mainstream activities for disabled children and young people up to the age of 18 years. The services will also support some families that want short breaks which are open to the whole family, including siblings. Lot 2 Carers of Adults and Older People who need social care due to illness or disability including palliative / end of life care. The services will ensure that the cared for person is provided with activities that are appropriate to their needs and give added value to their lives. Examples of this could include allowing them to regain an old hobby or a new skill whilst allowing the Carer free for an agreed period of time to pursue their own activities according to their own preferences. The service will also help Older People and their carers maintain their health and wellbeing (both mental and physical). Potential bidders can express an interest in one or both Lots, when expressing an interest in this opportunity, please state which Lot you are interested in receiving the necessary documentation for
