Description of the contract

DSTL Requires a training course that will familiarise particiapnts in handling of small arms. Each course is expected to be between 1 and 3 days. Demand is likley to be 20-30 in year 1 and 10-20 per year therafter. The Learning Objectives listed below are essential and while it is recognised that Course Providers may be limited in what they can provide, it is recognised that providers may be bound by their own rules to add certain elements not listed below 2.1 Initial Brief on Course and Course Content. 2.2 Understand the various UK and MoD regulations for Firearms. 2.3 Understand the working parts of LW (bolt, carrier etc). 2.4 Understand the safety aspects of LW (safety catch, safety sears etc) and the mechanisms which could cause injury to users. 2.5 Practical experience of handling unloaded firearms (safe direction, leaving unattended). 2.6 Understand the safety aspects of LW ammunition (storing, loading etc). 2.7 Theoretical understanding of how to accurately hit a target (wind, breathing etc). 2.8 Practical experience of live firing (variety of Service and Civilian weapons). 2.9 Practical Demonstration, including, if possible, the firing of a variety of Threat LW, if available (AK-47 etc).
