The County Council recognises that there is no set model for how the contracting of a strategic partner should operate. It invites organisations who could provide this type of service to register their interest in such an initiative. A consortia approach would be welcomed.
Hampshire County Council is looking to core fund the initiative to GBP 10,000 per annum and may look to a contract of up to 3 years. The County Council may also have 0.3FTE of a tourism officer to support the contract.
Consultation with stakeholders has indicated that the following approach may be required
– Conference and meeting venue promotion that focuses on Hampshire AND its local business tourism destinations eg Southampton, Portsmouth, Winchester, Farnborough, Basingstoke and New Forest
– A network of key local destination managers and key venues to determine strategic direction and potential pooling of budgets for promotional initiatives
– A framework that enables the strategic partner to develop and support bids for external funding in collaboration with destinations and venues. This could provide the means to extend and enhance the range of promotional activity and funding that will be contacted through the strategic partner.
