Description of the contract

Ordnance Survey, the national mapping agency of Great Britain, is responsible for maintaining the national mapping archive. We are widely regarded as the world leader in our field, and are responsible for the surveying, production, maintenance and marketing of a wide range of digital and graphic map based products and other geographical information for business, leisure, education and administrative use. We are a non-ministerial government department and Executive Agency responsible to the Secretary of State at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS). Ordnance Survey Leisure (OSL) is a separate arm of Ordnance Survey and provides an online e-commerce facility for consumers to purchase maps, as well as an online mapping service (OS getamap) allowing users and subscribers to view, plot and plan routes on OS mapping. OSL is co-located in the same premises as Ordnance Survey in Southampton. Ordnance Survey Leisure Limited is looking to appoint a supplier to develop a software application which enables users’ of Ordnance Survey Leisure web site to download and print off maps for various leisure activities, such as cycling, walking and running. http://www.getamap.ordnancesurveyleisure.co.uk The deliverables are detailed in the OS “getamap” brief document which forms part of the tender pack which is available on request.
