S2050 is a meduim range sonar currently fitted to 13 Type 23 Frigates and is the Royal Navy’s primary Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW Hull Mounted Sonar).
The Authority aims to extend the scope of support and is also looking for innovative solutions from industry to improve the availability of S2050 outboard equipment, with a view to reducing the support costs.
The support will encompass but not be limited to the following;
Physical support of S2050 (within UK waters) for Operational Defect rectifications and worldwide helpdesk support, obsolescence monitoring and reporting, health checks for each fitted platform, suitably qualified & experienced persons to enter the bow dome in dry dock or afloat, stockholding & asset management services, maintenance calibration & secure storage of handling equipment and Special to Type Test Equipment and Government Furnished Assets, the update & review of S2050 documents including Safety Case/Hazard log and the ability to repair both S2050 arrays and GRP domes.
Subject to the number of suitable expressions of interest received, it may be necessary to issue a Pre-Qualification Questionnaire, this will include a request for a statement of good standing of the company, including its directors or any other person who has powers of representation. This information will be used to assess the capabilities and suitability of companies to tender, the assessment will be made utilising the AWARD assessment tool. It is anticipated that a maximum number of 6 companies will be invited to tender.
Candidate companies shall confirm to ISO 9001: 2000 with appropriate scope covering Design, Development and Production with experience in using COTS/OSA.
