Description of the contract
The Authority has a requirement for the provision of an enabling contract with the Health and Safety Laboratory (HSL) to provide occupational noise advice and guidance, including noise measurement, risk assessment, data analysis and recommendations for hearing protection, and validating the evidence of previous measurements or other risk assessments. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) are responsible for the relevant legislation in this field, and utilise the expertise of the HSL to support the delivery of the legislation and guidance. HSL support the HSE particularly in regard to the Control of Noise at Work Regulations advice and guidance, and are therefore HSL are the only relevant authority who can provide the Authority with the independent technical support necessary to validate the noise measurement and analysis methodology and provide guidance to ensure the regulations are complied with by the Authority. This notice advises that the Authority has decided to negotiate a contract with the named supplier on a single source basis, and is published for reasons of transparency.
