Description of the contract

Braintree District Council is commissioning consultants to undertake a new recreational strategy for the complete portfolio of its open spaces, sports pitches and indoor facilities; this document will assess the current provision and provide a comprehensive needs assessment to inform the decision making process up to 2033. This document will be expected to replace the Braintree District Green Spaces Strategy September 2008 and the Open Spaces Audit 2006. The evidence collated will guide the District Council and Parish/Town Councils, as well as other bodies, as to where and how to improve facilities. It will provide the evidence base for a new Local Plan policy. The consultants will be expected to audit facilities, assess quantity and quality, accessibility, develop a Playing Pitch and Indoor Sports Facilities and Open Spaces Strategy, highlight deficiencies and surpluses in provision and provide a comprehensive set of recommendations for local standards to be adopted by the Council.
