Description of the contract

The Assets & Commercial Services Division is located within the Finance & Resources Department of the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. The Assets & Commercial Services Division is planning to invite Tenders to be submitted for the construction of new single storey extension with flat roof, and some internal alteration to existing staff room of Thames View Junior School, Bastable Avenue, Barking, Essex, IG11 0LG. These works have an estimated value of less than £200,000. The scope of works includes building of a new extension, creation of new wide opening, blocking of existing door opening, removal of existing kitchen units, floor finishes, lighting and heating, and provision of new lighting, heating, security alarm, IT outlets kitchen unit, and floor finishes. Tenders are anticipated to be issued in March 2012 for return in April 2012. It is anticipated that the works shall commence on site in May 2012, for completion in August 2012.

There is no Pre Qualification Questionnaire and Companies wishing to be considered for this project should submit an Expression of Interest and be Constructionline Pre-qualified suppliers. They must submit their Constructionline registration number along with their Expression of Interest. The Expression of Interest must be limited to two sheets of A4 only plus a brief covering letter. Information in excess of the two A4 sheets requested will not be considered. The Expression of Interest should demonstrate previous relevant experience of projects of this nature and size, provide contact details of references that we may take up if appropriate, and the names and qualifications of those members of staff who will be allocated to this project should you be successful, with a brief statement of why they have been selected for this project. It is a requirement that the successful Contractor shall only use fully trained and qualified sub-contractors on the project. The Council are looking for a maximum of six companies to tender for these works and the final tender list will be selected based on our assessment of all the compliant Expressions of Interest submitted.
