Charles Kendall & Partners (CKP) acting as agents for and on behalf of the British Government Department for International Development (DfID) intends to procure the services for the consolidation into school packs, temporary storage of up to 200 x 20ft consignee owned sea containers, transportation and distribution throughout South Sudan of approx. 9 million primary school text books for the Ministry of Education primary schools in South Sudan.
It is expected that the selected company must have excellent storage facilities in the region, have the ability to take delivery of the books and plastic storage boxes and re-pack all the books into individual school packs, store the re-packed sea containers in the region and have the experience and infrastructure within South Sudan to manage the distribution of the books to all regions. The distribution will involve placing the 20ft containers onto concrete blocks at 80 county locations and providing a simple roof structure. In addition companies will also be requested to offer for the option of distributing the school packs to approx. 4 500 schools and other learning establishments.
Companies who wish to pre-qualify for the tender for the supply of this service must do so by submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI) in the correct format by email to the address shown at the end of this notice. The main requirements to be met to pre-qualify for the tender are as follows:
(a) The Contractor must have been in operation at least three years prior to the date of bid submission with an important part of its business being in the East African region.
(b) The Contractor must have available the following facilities and the appropriate skilled staff to operate them:
— capacity to store 200 x 20ft containers,
— equipment for the handling of fully loaded 20ft containers,
— covered bonded secure warehouse facilities for the consolidation of the books,
— experience in this type of consolidation and distribution,
— specific and recent experience of distribution throughout south sudan.
(c) The Bidder must be able to complete the distribution within the 4 months non rainy season in South Sudan (December to April).
