The scope of this service will be to respond to all dependent and recreational substance misusing behaviours, particularly where these link to offending behaviours.
Substances of misuse, in this context, are defined as:
— any drug controlled by the misuse of drugs act (1971),
— any psychoactive substance that has an effect similar to a controlled drug (but is not currently controlled),
— any medication used other than in accordance with its prescribed purpose or its licensed use as described by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) or the European Medicines Evaluation Agency (EMEA),
— alcohol where used at hazardous, harmful or dependent levels (as determined by the WHO AUDIT screening tool) or is identified as a significant factor in a prisoner’s offending behaviour.
