There are currently 13 public prisons in Scotland, an Edinburgh based Headquarters, an SPS College, and a Central Store facility. SPS currently manages a daily population of approximately 7,500 prisoners in the publically operated prison estate. There are also two privately operated prisons (HMP Kilmarnock and HMP Addiewell). Further background information is available from the SPS website: www.sps.gov.uk.
SPS intends to award a Contract for a 3 year term with options to extend by up to a further 4 years. The SPS expects the supplier to offer a viable range of value for money products that meets the product description (provided in Annex 1 of Schedule B).
