Border Force currently has Electronic Passport Gates (e-Gates) operating across 15 airport terminals in the UK. The existing e-Gates are used to verify the identity and eligibility of EEA, UK and Swiss ePassport holders quickly and securely as they cross the border.
Border Force is planning to tender for a 4 year call off contract within the current financial year (2012/13) covering the supply of “next generation” e-Gates. The scope of this contract is for the physical e-Gates and their support & maintenance only. It does not cover the e-Gate monitoring system or any other back-end Border Force infrastructure systems. This requirement should not be confused with the legacy e-Borders project or any plans to replace the existing Border Systems.
The resulting contract may be enabled for other interested parties, such as Port Operators, to use for the same product.
Border Force is seeking Suppliers of e-Gates which are suitable for deployment in any of the UK’s ports (including juxtaposed ports). These e-Gates should be capable of processing a wide range of passengers by biometrically verifying their identities using electronic travel documents (e.g. ePassports) and /or against databases and watchlists.
Any potential Suppliers who are interested in undertaking this role should provide the following details to the Contract Authority within 14 days of this request for information:
— Company name & details,
— Contact name & details,
— UK VAT registration number (if applicable).
It is intended to carry out a Supplier Engagement Event on the 17th and 18th October 2012. During this process, the Agency will look to the participants to assist in refining their technological requirement. Places are limited, if you wish to take advantage of this opportunity and to participate in a one-to-one meeting at the Event, you should register your interest no later 17:00 on the 11.10.2012.
