The Energy Centre at ‘The Works’ in Ebbw Vale, South Wales is operated by Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council (BGCBC). The Energy Centre currently supplies space heating and domestic hot water to a district heating network comprising Council Offices, Education Facilities ‘Learning Zone’, Ebbw Vale Sports Centre, Ebbw Fawr Phase School and Gwent Archive Building. Heat is currently supplied by four 1 500 kW gas boilers and a 400 kWth CHP unit.
BGCBC wish to engage a Contractor to supply, assemble, install and commission two circa 490 kW wood pellet boilers within the existing Energy Centre to supply heat to the primary circuit of the district heating network, in order to reduce carbon emissions and to benefit from the Renewable Heat Incentive.

In summary, the scope of work for this contract comprises the supply, installation and commissioning of two circa 490 kW biomass boilers (combined MCR must not be greater than 999 kW) and two circa 25 m3 external wood pellet stores.

All pipe work modifications within the Energy Centre to integrate the new biomass boilers with existing plant are outside the scope of this contract. All building works such as construction of boiler plinths and foundations for the fuel stores are outside the scope of this contract.
