- Wirral Borough Council
- Digital Communication System 2014
- Brief Description of Contract
The supply, installation maintenance and any training requirements of a complete Digital Communications System which will also include the fitting of five mobile units to council vehicles. The repositioning (if needed) of any existing Aerials’ / antennas plus any other work required to ensure the system is operative to the agreed required standard. Due to the role of the Community safety team the agreed transition will need to be as seamless as possible to ensure the disruption to service is minimal.
The currant analogue radio system in use is over 28 (twenty eight) years old with limitations to its coverage and an inadequate monitoring compatibility in relation to staff safety. The improvements in Telecommunications technology also render the currant system vulnerable to security concerns.
The new secure digital system will allow for the opportunity to increase the capability, performance and flexibility of the community safety team and other departments within the organisation. Increase the accountability in relation to service delivery as well as improved and enhanced lone worker safety. The system provides a platform to expand and develop new and as of yet untapped financial opportunities that are impossible with the present network.
