Description

Leicester City Council wishes to appoint a contractor to supply, install and maintain summer hanging baskets and troughs between June 2014 and October 2014 within the city boundaries.

Contractors will need to be appointed as soon as possible to allow agreement on plant selection and growing of plant material for baskets.

The contractor is required to grow plant material, plant up baskets and troughs, install baskets and troughs at the beginning of the season and remove at the end, and maintain throughout the season in accordance with the attached specification.

Leicester City has a tradition of high quality bedding and hanging basket displays, and the contractor will be expected to work closely with officers from the authority, to achieve these high standards.

The baskets and troughs are all located in and around the city centre of Leicester. A layout map will be provided and a visiting day will be arranged to the city centre for the successful contractor. This can be arranged by contacting Alan Brown, Senior Parks Officer on Tel No: 0116 454 4925.

As well as hanging baskets, there are a number of other items to be included:

Barrier Troughs
Lamp post wrap-around baskets

The contractor will be expected to plant, install and maintain all baskets and troughs to a high standard from the first week of June 2014 until the end of October 2014. The contractor shall also be responsible for removal of baskets and troughs at the end of the season.

It should be noted that some requirements will be high on buildings/lamp posts so working at heights and in public places will need to be taken into account.

Maintenance will include ensuring that all baskets and troughs are watered, fed, and dead-headed and plants replaced as required throughout the growing season.

Quantity Description
200 60cm Hanging Baskets
