Network Rail require both hardwood and softwood timber — the softwood timber will need to be treated with an alternative wood preservative to Creosote which is compliant to Network Rail’s specification.
Parties who wish to participate in the tender are required to submit compliant bids but they may also submit variant bids. Variant bids shall be evaluated in accordance with the published tender evaluation criteria and Network Rail reserves the right not to accept any variant bid. The tender pricing model shall be used to price any variant bid. The variant bid must comply with all minimum standards applicable and must meet all performance requirements stated in the technical specification.
