Description
As part of our work delivered in 2015/16, the Catapult developed a database of IoT (Internet of Things) companies, funding, investment, research, meet-ups, collaborations, platforms, projects and products in the UK. We commissioned a visualization tool to allow the data to be viewed and partially manipulated from a web interface. From the resulting database asset we produced a number of short-form reports. In 2016/17 we are seeking to further develop and improve the core database asset – to create a comprehensive evidence base of IoT activity in the UK which can then be offered on an open-access model via an interactive and adaptive web interface, as well as offering a rich data resource for interrogation, modeling and analysis. We require bidders to propose a package of services to deliver a comprehensive and analytically robust database asset, in a readily machine-accessible format (both web-interface accessible and accessible by data-analysis and modelling tool-sets), with appropriate data-reliability testing and scoring to identify areas of statistical strength and weakness. Whilst the initial phase of work will include the construction of the database, the primary stream of work concerns carrying out IoT research and population of the database with the research.
