The Secretary of State for Health acting through Public Health England (PHE) is looking to appoint suppliers to a Framework for the purchase of ionising radiation radiological protection instruments/equipment as detailed in each Lot. The purchases will be on a ad hoc basis following invitations to quote (mini competitions). The requirement will include delivery, warranty, repair and maintenance and possible loan of equipment to physically evaluate the suitability.
The Framework contract will be for 2 years with option to extend by another 2 year period — Total of 4 years.
Spend per year is estimated at GBP 95 000 over all the framework lots. PHE cannot specify the value against each lot.
The requirement is for PHE’s laboratories based at Chilton, Leeds and Glasgow, however it may be required at other sites during the term of the contract.

These instruments are for the measurement of Ambient dose equivalent, directional dose equivalent (measurement unit Sieverts) and Air Kerma (measurement unit Gray) for X and Gamma radiation over a photon energy range 16 keV to 1.25 MeV and a Beta energy range from 0.22 MeV and above, for dose rates from a few uSv/h, (uGy/h) up to potentially a few Sv/h, (Gy/h).
