Canterbury City Council is carrying out this procurement exercise on behalf of Dover District Council who will be the Contracting Authority.
The contract is for the pre-order of forward shipped timber tropical hardwood (e.g.Ekki or Greenhart), for marine use on timber groyne replacement from Walmer to Kingsdown. Delivery and off loading to Kingsdown Beach, Kent.
Further detail will be included in Invitation to tender document.
Approximate timber quantities for 16 groynes @ 55 m long.
Piles 230 x 230 mm.
23 no. ranging in length between 3 m to 10 m in length — 250 m³.
Planking 230 mm x 75 mm.
4.6 m, 4.8 m and 7.2 m lengths — 260 m³.
The timber shall be obtained from an approved FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council, or equivalent) certified source and shall be in accordance with BS5756 and BS EN 1995 HS grade.
All timber delivered shall be accompanied with certification authenticating the source of the timber and such certificates shall be made available to the Project Manager before any timber is used in the works. Failure to produce such certification will mean that the timber will not be used in the Works and no monies will be paid to the supplier.

Requests to participate will be accepted from groupings of economic operators (consortia). III.2.1)Personal situation of economic operators, including requirements relating to enrolment on professional or trade registers

Information and formalities necessary for evaluating if the requirements are met: (1) All candidates will be required to produce a certificate or declaration demonstrating that they are not bankrupt or the subject of an administration order, are not being wound-up, have not granted a trust deed, are not the subject of a petition presented for sequestration of their estate, have not had a receiver, manager or administrator appointed and are not otherwise apparently insolvent.
(2) All candidates will be required to produce a certificate or declaration demonstrating that the candidate, their directors, or any other person who has powers of representation, decision or control of the candidate has not been convicted of conspiracy, corruption, bribery, or money laundering. Failure to provide such a declaration will result in the candidate being declared ineligible and they will not be selected to participate in this procurement process.

Canterbury City Council are advertising and undertaking this procurement exercise on behalf of Dover District Council (The Contracting Authority) who reserves the right not to award any or part of this contract, postpone or terminate the procurement process (or part of it) or change the procedure used to procure the contract, at any time without liability on its part. No contract will be created between the Contracting Authority and any applicant until a contract is executed between the Contracting Authority and the successful bidder(s).
