Description of the goods or services required

Wind Energy Demonstration System

– Must be designed to demonstrate the main components and mechanical workings found in a large scale wind turbine nacelle. To include and not be limited to;

Drive train from hub to generator

Sensors for system control and automation

Braking system

Yaw system

PLC

Electrical panel

Simulation of sensor inputs for wind speed and direction

– The system must be fully functioning and controllable to demonstrate operation of all components.

– The training rig should offer hands-on training for real operation and maintenance situations.

– The system should be equipped with an interface/control panel via industrial touch screen computer. Control panel should allow different parameters to be adjusted to achieve various stimulation patterns and to monitor the performance of the system and must be representative of that found in industrial turbine systems.

– Full electrical schematics of system

– All necessary emergency buttons and guards necessary for a teaching environment.

– Full operation and teaching manuals

– Educational software package and modules based on training rig for installation on classroom PCs

– Delivery, installation & training

– The demonstration unit must be easily transportable, ideally on a trolley or pedal system.

– The demonstration unit must be able to be moved through a doorway of width 1900mm.

– Warranty and two year service contract
