Description of the contract
Due to the approaching expiry of an existing contract the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham is advertising to seek tenders from suitably experienced and qualified organisations for the provision of a Support and Advice Service for Portage Families. The contract is expected to run for a period of one year commencing in October 2014 and may be extended for a further one year subject to funding and performance. The award of the contract will be based on the most economically advantageous tender. Our vision in the re-tender of this service is to work in partnership with an appropriately experienced contractor to sustain, and develop further, a quality support and advice service for the carers and families of disabled children and those with additional needs, from birth to 3 years of age living within the Borough of Barking and Dagenham. The main focus of this service will be: • ensuring that families are receiving all benefits to which they are entitled; • empowering families to become independent; • helping families to organise paperwork relating to their child’s needs, arrange and attend appointments; • supporting training that advises families on appropriate, positive behaviour management strategies; • supporting families with housing issues; • supporting families to apply for short breaks and charitable funding; • providing access to emotional support; and • enhancing the knowledge and skills of multi-disciplinary staff To achieve our vision, we will need to work with a provider who is equally excited by the challenge and can demonstrate specific experience and innovation for this specialist area of work.
