Second Steps – Sustainable Tourism Business Grant Scheme in Forth Valley and Lomond LEADER area

Description of the goods or services required

To contract a suitably experienced individual to undertake the role of Sustainable Tourism Development Officer for the time limited Second Steps – Sustainable Tourism Business Grant Scheme project to meet the aims (detailed in the Invitation To Tender document), and specifically to take responsibility for:

– Promotion of the project to potential applicants, across the FVL (Forth Valley and Lomond) LEADER area

– Responding to enquiries and supporting applicants through the application process

– Supporting businesses/applicants to provide completed business plans which explore project viability.

– Supporting businesses/applicants to identify and create tangible and measurable community benefit.

– Supporting the LAG in the appraisal of applications presented for funding under the Sustainable Tourism Business Grant Scheme.

– Promoting the benefits of community engagement as a key strand of sustainable tourism development in the FVL LEADER area.

– Monitoring activity by local authority area and working with partners to stimulate activity in ‘quieter’ areas.

– Promotion of good practice in Sustainable Tourism, and sharing of good practice.

– Completion of an evaluation report at the end of the Second Steps project.

The successful contractor will need to know how communities and businesses in the rural areas work, and be able to deliver this project within an EU/Scottish Government grant programme framework.

They will be an ambassador for the FVL LEADER LAG to tourist businesses, and a champion of sustainable tourism (and especially the community engagement element) to all.
