Home currently supports a range of virtual (VM) and physical servers, predominately based around Windows 2003 running a range of 3rd party applications. Most line of business applications are deployed through citrix. A new SAN was implemented towards the end of last year which currently supports around 120TB of data. All systems and data are located within the data centre.
Home also supports around 3 500 desktop and laptop users who run either Windows XP or 7. All support MS Office and Outlook with the majority of other applications deployed through Citrix. These 3 500 users are based in around 600+ locations (WAN) and some home workers. Locations are from Cornwall up to Tayside.
Home Group IS currently utilise Symantec Backup Exec, but potential suppliers are free to recommend whichever solution best fulfils the requirements.
