Description of the contract

The Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg announced on 24th October 2013, in his speech on education and outstanding leaders, that the government will be setting up a programme to get outstanding leaders into schools in challenging circumstances in the areas of the country that need them the most. NCTL is seeking an organisation to deliver the Talented Leaders Programme nationally within a flexible delivery model. The National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) will commission a provider to deliver the Talented Leader programme nationally through a 5 1/2 year contract. The programme will recruit talented school leaders, (headteachers and deputy headteachers) and deploy them to take on headship positions over a 3 period in schools in challenging circumstances and in areas of the country that need them the most. The programme will offer a package of incentives, match headteachers with appropriate schools and ensure that strategies are in place to sustain improvement in the school at the end of the programme.
