Cumbria County Council is looking to engage with existing and potential providers and stakeholders to discuss the future delivery of Targeted Short Break Activities for Children with Disabilities.
Cumbria County Council is looking to engage with existing and potential providers and stakeholders to discuss the future delivery of Targeted Short Break Activities for Children with Disabilities. Targeted Activities: • is a vital service which helps families with disabled children lead ‘ordinary lives’ • can be accessed without needing to have a formal assessment • take place outside of school hours • allow families with children who are disabled to have a break from their caring responsibilities • are an early help service to prevent families reaching crisis and children becoming ‘looked after’ Examples of Targeted Activities: • Regular after school clubs for young people to meet & socialise • Weekend clubs – sport, craft and activity clubs • School holiday breaks – one off day trips, adventure activities or regular clubs during holidays • Family fun days – inclusive activities for disabled young people and their whole family Short Breaks for Children with Disabilities is a statutory service.
