Description of the goods or services required

Provision of training and support for teaching staff which meets local and national strategic outcomes for Orkney Islands Council (the Council) teaching staff. The training programme will required to deliver a number of specific outcomes including:-

– Council teaching staff to gain an understanding of the value of relationship based, assessment for learning techniques for use in practice;

– Council teaching staff to gain the necessary skill to enhance partnership working and embed the use of the Curriculum for Excellence (design principals) in practice;

– Council teaching staff to become competent in the use of a broad range of Assessment for Learning Techniques in practice;

– Establish sustainable Teacher Learning Communities which promote the application of learner self-evaluation into daily practice.

It is anticipated that training will be delivered to approximately 150-200 Council teaching staff over a 24 month period.

The Council reserves the right to cancel the procurement at any stage and not award a contract. The expenditure, work or effort undertaken by bidders prior to the award of any contract is accordingly a matter solely for the commercial judgement of candidates. Late tenders will not be considered by the Council.
