Description of the contract

Background Our client is currently recruiting for a Delivery / Technical Project Manager to work on a project that supports the exploration, planning and delivery of divisional change programmes. The role is initially for 6 months and is based in Taunton. Main Duties/ Responsibilities 1. To manage the delivery of a portfolio of concurrent projects and medium / large Change Requests. Projects & change requests may range from delivery by a small group of resources over two to three weeks to many months of engagement with teams. 2. To plan and prioritise work packages to ensure that project delivery activities are delivered on-time, within budget and to quality with output targets delivered. 3. Support project managers and sponsors during the delivery phase of projects, providing project reporting and milestone tracking. 4. Manage effective relationships with external delivery partners (as appropriate) Outputs/ Deliverables to be achieved You will be expected to ensure the successful delivery of the portfolio of concurrent projects and medium / large Change Requests which fall within your area of responsibility. Your performance will be measured on the successful delivery these requests to time, cost and quality. Skills/ Experience Required Essential Project Management and work package delivery skills: 1. Experience of project or work package planning and resource scheduling. 2. Experience of managing project delivery teams with demonstrable successful outcomes. 3. Capable of engaging and influencing senior managers. 4. Credibility and character to gain agreement and commitment without full authority at all levels of the organisation. 5. Knowledge and experience of IT implementation processes and techniques 6. Capable of developing and maintaining strong working relationships with project team members, delivery teams and third party suppliers. 7. Knowledge of IT the change management process 8. Experience to dig deeper and perform systematic research 9. Ability to use Microsoft Project (ideally Project Server/Enterprise) Desirable Procurement skills: 1. Experience of supplier contract management Project and task Management skills: 1. Experience of change management and implementing new ways of working Formal Qualifications Required Essential n/a Desirable 1. Prince2 or IS project management formal qualification 2. ITIL or equivalent formal qualification 3. SC clearance Person Specification 1. Experience of gaining agreement from senior managers for the proposals and ideas. 2. Ability to achieve outcomes through influence and stakeholder management. 3. Team player and collaborative working style. 4. Ability to deliver within responsibility given – action oriented 5. Ability to resolve or escalate problems and issues 6. Ability to communicate effectively with different personalities and levels of seniority 7. Ability to plan tangible deliver based on business drivers and priorities 8. Experience of acting as a point of contact for external stakeholders. 9. Initiative determination and a high degree of resourcefulness. 10. Task and target orientated
