Technocamps Projects Evaluation
Description of the contract

The Technocamps project application was submitted for funding under the European Social Fund (ESF) Convergence programme by Swansea University in collaboration with the Universities of Aberystwyth, Bangor and Glamorgan. The project was initially developed back in 2003, where a pilot initiative took place in Swansea.

The Technocamps project is an outreach programme for schools and colleges initiated by Swansea University with the aim of encouraging an increase in the numbers of pupils who opt to study computer science and its cognate STEM subjects.

Technocamps is a project that is delivered in partnership with the universities of Aberystwyth, Bangor and Glamorgan, part match funded by the Welsh Government’s ESF Convergence programme for West Wales and the Valleys

The successful evaluator will undertake an on-going evaluation of the impact of the project. The evaluation will focus on the extent to which the project has met its original aims – to address the serious decline in the number of young people who study computing and its cognitive STEM subjects.

The mid-term evaluation (evaluating the project up to October 2012) will be expected to make interim recommendations by the 15th of January 2013. This will be followed by annual progress report (evaluating the project from October 2012 to October 2013) with the final report providing an overall evaluation of the whole project with associated recommendations by May 2014. The Evaluator will be expected to make recommendations, each year, on how the project implementation can be refined.
