The National Centre for Learning Welsh works closely with the education and childcare sector to help increase the workforce’s Welsh language skills and to enable them to respond better to meet the requirements of the foundation phase and the new proposed Curriculum. The work is very relevant due to the intention to increase the childcare offer to 30 hours and the need therefore to plan provisions that can offer opportunities through the medium of Welsh for children. It is estimated that there are at least 20 000 workers in the non-maintained childcare and education sector.
